The Free Nutcracker comes to Santa Cruz County

The Ntucracker Ballet comes to Santa Cruz County as a  Free Gift from Agape Dance Academy in Scotts Valley.  This is a dream come true for Director/ Owner Melanie Useldinger who has exprienced the joy of being the choreographer for the Twin Lake Church Christmas concerts and seeing what a blessing it is for some to enjoy the arts where ohterwise they may be cost prohibitive.  Tickets become avalable November 11th at Agape Dance Academy and the 2nd Street Cafe in Watsonville.  Shows are at the Henry Mello Center at 215 E Beach Strett Watsonville.  December 13th at 7:00pm and December 14th at 3:00pmm.  Call 831-359-0850 for more information

Here are a few glimpses of all the happiness and beautiful art happening behind the scenes at Agape Dance .  I am alway inspired when I come to the studio and remember what my to-do list supports.  Beautiful art, happy wholesome friendships that will last a lifetime, radiant children learning to dance, bubbling with joy as they leave the classroom, amazing dancers maturing in their technique from their hours of sacrifice and focus towards a challenging goal.  Okay to-do list.....bring it on!!!

Free Nutcracker in Santa Cruz County!

Its all about the wonderful journey we take toghether with the students as we prepare for the our "Free" Nutcracker production on December 13th and 14, 2014.  Here we are rehearsing for the first act party scene with Drosselmeyer and Clara.  Assistant director Julianna Roberts is stepping in this year and doing a wonderful job at our ballet studio in Scotts Valley.   Everyone loves this holiday tradition of amazing music, dancing, costumes, scenery and more.  We are hoping to make it an event anyone can enjoy this year at the Mello Center in Watsonville.

Youth American Grand Prix!!  The largest student scholarship Ballet competion in the world.  Here are some fun memories from our trip to San Francisco this year.  Ballet students from Santa Cruz, Aptos, Watsonville, Capitola , and Scotts Valley competed in the event with classical ballet variations and contemporary dance pieces.  Yeah Agape Dance Academy.  Conratulations to all!!

 Santa Cruz, Aptos, Watsonville, Capitola and more) brought their own choreographic works to our Student choreography showcase Friday night.  Some of the special themes included a dance in honor of the upheaval in the Ukraine, her country of heritage.  Another student dedicated her piece to the loss of a fellow student at her school this year.  Amazing talent of all ages participated in this lovely event.  The evening also served as a fundraiser for teacher Maddy Bruce who is going on a mission to an orphanage is Zambia this summer.  We love dancing for great purposes!! And we love the community her that is built with great people and great values!!

The time treasured full length ballet "The Nutcracker" is coming to town December 21st at the Scott's Valley Community Center December 21st for two benefit shows FREE.  This follow our opening performance in SANTA CRUZ , at Santa Cruz high the weekend before!  Tickets will be available on a first come first serve basis at Agape Dance Academy on Monday December 16th from noon until 8:00PM .  Don't miss this amazing opportunity to share this wonderful Holiday extravaganza with beautiful, highly trained dancers, gymnasts, amazing choreography, and stunning costumes.  And this year our guests are the Martial Arts Demo Team from Elite Martial Arts Academy in Scott's Valley joining us with their thrilling weaponry skills in the fight scene.  Wow, you won't believe it.  Dance in Scotts Vallley doesn't get much better than this!

Costumes are in the making at Agape Dance Academy in ScottsValley, California.  Terri Contini has returned from tutu school and is doing and amazing creative work as she brings together the costumes of this years Nutcracker Ballet at the Santa Cruz High School auditiorium and the Scotts Valley community center.  Gorgeous is the word that belongs to these creations!

We had a wonderful class this week at CYT 's (Christian Youth Theater's) advanced dance class.  We are learning dance skills and putting them all together in fun choreography to excerpts from the musical "Newsies".  Below is a glance at the students working on a dance impovisation exercise at the end of class.  We are blessed to be a part of this wonderful organization that produces quality theater as well as growing character values in children.
